Not too much is known about Mr. Barber, other than the fact that he is a truck driver and Stanley's rather uncaring and abusive father.
He also is most likely an alcoholic.

Mr. Barber seems to not care about his son and even calls him a "fagg*t" when he dresses up for the school dance, meaning he's homophobic and bigoted.
